Electronic Warfare Operational Support (EWOS)

Mission:

  • Manipulate and Control the EM Spectrum to Ensure Weapon System effectiveness and protection of friendly assets
  • ensure an ongoing effective electronic warfare capability both today and in the future
  • promote an understanding and application of electronic warfare principles to the war fighter
  • promote an understanding and application of electronic warfare principles to those who support the war fighter
  • provide a ready deployable ,timely and capable Electronic warfare technical support function to the war fighter
  • to assist our leaders at all levels and functions to make Timely, effective and considered acquisitions , plans and policies As they relate to electronic warfare

Role:

To provide timely and quality electronic warfare operational support (EWOS) to the Air Force through electronic warfare (EW) system reprogramming, in-theatre support and operational test and evaluation (OT&E).

Resources:

  • EW Lab
    • 5 individual fleet work stations - Hornet, Hercules, Griffon (Aurora and Cyclone under construction)
    • 1 analysis work station
  • 25 personnel Sep 09 (32 by APS 09)

Activities:

  • On going EW upgrades and testing for the Hornet, Hercules, Griffon, Sea King and Globemaster fleets
  • Development of an EW support capability for the Aurora, Cyclone and Chinook
  • Development of an EO/IR support capability
    • EWOS modeling and simulation (M&S) lab enhancements will provide more accurate threat emitter and receiver models to make live range EW operational test and evaluation (OT&E) much more effective.
