General Information

Airfield Engineering Flight Gander The Airfield Engineering Flight (AEF) has been supported by 9 Wing Gander since March 1995.

The role of the AEF is to allow Canada's Air Force to live, fly and operate anywhere in the world. It can be charged with any number of tasks - from performing airfield damage repair to supporting the air force in combat missions, UN operations or humanitarian relief mission to deployments for training.

It is made up of Airfield Engineering Reserves (AE Res) who are come from the construction engineering or engineering-related trades, capable of supporting the Air Force in deployed operations.

The Flight includes carpenters, plumbers, electricians, refrigeration mechanics, electrical generating systems technicians, water, fuel and environment technicians, heavy equipment operators, vehicle mechanics as well as administration and supply trades people.
