C-90B King Air
Air Force pilots who will go on to fly multi-engine aircraft such as the CC-130 Hercules and CP-140 Aurora first complete their training to "wings" standard on the Raytheon C-90B King Air twin-engine, turboprop multi-engine trainer at 3 Canadian Forces Flying Training School at the Southport Aerospace Centre, Portage la Paririe, Manitoba. The aircraft are owned and maintained by the Allied Wings consortium, while flying instruction is carried out by Air Force pilots that have completed the rigorous training required to become "QFIs" - Qualified Flight Instructors.The C-90B King Air is also used by the Central Flying School, located at 17 Wing's Winnipeg main operating base.
