Colonel Bill Seymour
Colonel Seymour was born in 3 Wing Zweibrucken, Germany. He joined the Canadian Forces in January 1987 following graduation from the University of Lethbridge.
After earning his Navigator Wings on the venerable CC-130 Hercules in May 1989, Colonel Seymour served multiple flying tours on the CP-140 Aurora, including two tours with the Demons at 407 Long Range Patrol (LRP) Squadron in Comox, BC and two tours with the Thundering Herd at 404 Long Rang Patrol and Training (LRP & T) Squadron in Greenwood, NS, most recently as the Commanding Officer from 2005-2007. With more than 3400 Aurora flying hours and a proud member of VP International, in 1993 Colonel Seymour led his crew’s participation in Operation Sharp Guard, flying armed missions in the Adriatic Sea in support of operations to monitor and enforce compliance with UN sanctions on former Yugoslavia. In 2003 he deployed to the Middle East prior to the second Gulf War to support LRP operations in Operation Apollo as the Canadian LRP Liaison Officer to COMUSNAVCENT in Bahrain, supporting Canadian CP-140 Aurora and CF Naval operations in the region.
Colonel Seymour’s staff experience includes a tour at 1 Canadian Air Division Headquarters in Winnipeg as an Operations Officer and Maritime and Joint Exercise Planner. He also completed a staff/flying tour at the Canadian Contingent, NATO Airborne Early Warning Force in Geilenkirchen, Germany, serving both as the Canadian Chief of Staff, and as an E-3A AWACS navigator. Colonel Seymour completed the United Kingdom Advanced Command and Staff Course, where he also earned a Master of Arts degree in Defence Studies.
Colonel Seymour was promoted to his current rank in June 2009 and took Command of 14 Wing Greenwood on 23 July 2009.
